This OEM 1956 Chrysler / Imperial Service Manual is a high-quality, authorized, licensed reproduction of the original shop manual published by Chrysler Corporation. If you're ready to get to work on all of the projects for your classic Chrysler, this hefty, 474 page repair manual is the first tool you're going to want to put in your hands. In 1956, Chrysler was still using letters and numbers, as well as names, to identify their models. This book is a must have maintenance and repair guide for your C-71 (Windsor), C-72 (New Yorker), C-73 (Custom Imperial), C-70 (Crown Imperial) and C-300B (Chrysler). It covers such areas as: general specifications, front wheel suspension, rear axle, brakes, clutch, cooling system, electrical system, engine, fuel and exhaust systems, frame, springs and shock absorbers, steering, transmission, universal joints and propeller shaft, wheels and tires, body and sheet metal - Town and Country Wagon, lubrication, radio, Hi-Fi and heater, air conditioning and a section on the Chrysler C-300B.

1956 marked the second year in which Imperial was its own division. Make no mistake, these were some stately automobiles. For instance, the C-73 Imperial sedan checked in at 229.6 inches in length. That's over 19 feet! To put that into perspective, you could park two Smart cars end to end and still have plenty of extra room before reaching that bumper to bumper span. It wasn't just impressive size that made these cars interesting. They had cool features, too. Radio wasn't good enough? How about a Highway Hi-Fi record player? Yep. Chrysler offered it, and this guide tells you all about it, from electrical circuit wiring diagram to the exploded view diagram showing all the pieces. That wasn't all. In 1956, Chrysler debuted their PowerFlite push-button automatic transmission. This manual contains all the information necessary to work on it. As this book explains it, "Gear range selection is obtained by pressing one of four gearshift control unit push buttons mounted on instrument panel to left of starting column.

"The buttons provide ranges of (N) Neutral, (D) Drive, (L) Low, and (R) Reverse. A hydraulic blocker valve prevents the driver form inadvertently using (R) Reverse when car is traveling forward above 10 m.p.h."

Push button transmissions are cool, but they won't do anything without an engine to spin them. Once again, this manual has you covered. Whether you're working on the 331 cubic inch V-8, or the 354 cubic inch V-8, you'll find all the specifications conveniently laid-out on tables listed in the engine chapter. From basic tune-up to full-scale rebuild, this service manual has it all.

In addition to well-written text, this shop manual contains a large number and variety of visual aids to help get all of your projects completed accurately and efficiently. You'll find black and white photographs, illustrations, tables, wiring diagrams, cut-away views, etc.
