This OEM 1962 Dodge Lancer / Dart / Polara 500 Shop Manual is a high-quality, authorized, licensed reproduction of the original shop manual published by Dodge Division. While many words could be used to describe the look of the 1962 Dart, BOLD is probably one of the best. Dodge truly got creative with the lines on these cars to produce a memorable look. It wasn't all about looks, however. With these beauties, you could order up a variety of power plants in 1962 to get your Mopar down the road. There were 170 and 225 cubic inch 6 cylinder engines. The new 225 was an aluminum block and available as an extra cost option in the Lancer. In order to have a lower hood line, yet still have the space necessary for the long intake manifold branches, the new 6 cylinder was slanted to the right at a 30 degree angle. It had the legendary wedge shaped combustion chamber. The 1962 engine line-up also included the 318 cubic inch, 90 degree, V-8, which came with polyspherical combustion chambers and inclined valves in the cylinder heads. If you still needed to up the ante, there was also a 361 cubic inch, 90 degree, V-8 ready to tear up the streets. Whichever engine you ordered, this manual has all the specifications and service instructions for everything from a simple tune-up to a full-on rebuild.
Topics addressed in this shop manual include: lubrication and maintenance, accessories, front suspension, rear axle, brakes (manual and power), clutch, cooling system (belt drives), electrical (instruments), engine, exhaust, fuel system, propeller shaft and universal joints, springs and shock absorbers, steering (manual and power), transmissions, wheels and tires, body and sheet metal.
You'll be happy to find that the well-written text has been accompanied by a huge number and variety of visual tools. There are black and white photographs, illustrations, tables, charts, exploded-view diagrams (with arrows and labels for each part and fastener), cut-away views, wiring diagrams and others. This combination will help to give you the information and confidence you'll need to take care of all the projects on your vintage Mopar. Do you need to know the paint code for Metallic Emerald Poly, or Dusty Rose Poly, Shell Beige, or perhaps Nutmeg Brown Poly? Fret not. They're all right here in this guide, along with the rest of the codes for the entire vibrant 1962 color line-up.
