In 1968, Dodge offered plenty of choices to their customers. There were a number of stylish models available and power plant options covered the bases as well. Fortunately, this shop manual has you covered regardless of your cubic inch situation. Engines covered by this manual include the 170 and 225 cubic inch, 6-cylinder, as well as the 273, 318, 340, 383, 440 cubic inch V8s (and it even has coverage for the legendary 426 hemi V8) engines. Lovingly nicknamed the elephant, the hemi was a dominating force in racing and in status on the streets.
The muscle car war was raging in 1968, and Dodge was very much in the thick of the fight. At the movie theaters, Bullitt was released. It is a film starring Steve McQueen doing battle with some "bad-guys" who happened to be driving a sinister, black 1968 Charger with 440 cubic inches under the hood. Due to some Hollywood magic (no doubt), the good guy is able to catch up in his 390 Mustang, in what is widely considered (even to this day) to be the greatest car chase in cinema history.
While some of these classic Dodge models may appear to be the size of battleships by today's standards, fortunately they had some engines that seemed big enough to power air craft carriers. When you're ready to get out the wrenches and get to work, be sure you have this reproduction manual in hand. It's the ultimate guide for service and repair on these great cars.
This manual is the perfect companion for the restorer, or the DIY mechanic. It contains thousands of photos, illustrations and exploded views, in addition to component details, engine data, electrical system, carburetion and more.
