This 1970 Cadillac Shop Manual is a high-quality authorized licensed reproduction of the original equipment manufacturer's (OEM) shop manual first published by Cadillac Motor Car Division. Before reaching for that 1/2 inch wrench, or Phillips-head screwdriver, reach for the tool which tells you how to DO the projects. This service manual is the right tool for the job, when it comes to working on your 1970 Caddy. It addresses a wide variety of areas such as general information, maintenance, lubrication, air conditioning and heating, frame and body mountings, front suspension (drive axles, output shafts, final drive), rear suspension (propeller shaft, rear axle, differential), brakes, engine (cooling, electrical, fuel, emission control systems, mechanical), transmission, fuel tank and exhaust, steering, wheels and tires, sheet metal, electrical (lighting system, windshield wiper and washer, electrical instruments, instrument panel, radiator and grille, bumpers, accessories (radio, cruise control, Guide-Matic, Twilight Sentinel and rear window de-fogger).
To say that 1970 Cadillac engines were big would be quite the understatement. They were enormous. Even in this time of large displacement wars between manufacturers, Cadillac, as usual, stood above the rest. On all but the Fleetwood Eldorado, a monstrous 472 cubic inch V-8 motivated these beauties down the road. With a 10.0 to 1 compression ratio, these engines cranked-out 375 horsepower at 4400 revolutions per minute (rpm) and had a torque peak measuring an astounding 525 foot-pounds at only 3000 rpm. The Fleetwood Eldorado took those already lofty numbers and pushed them deep into the stratosphere. It offered a whopping 500 cubic inch engine which delivered 400 horsepower at 4400 rpm and a maximum torque rating of 550 foot-pounds at 3000 rpm. This shop manual provides the specifications and instructions you'll need to perform everything from a tune-up to a major overhaul on whichever of theses super-sized engines you own.
Much like the 1970 Cadillac bodies and engines, this book is big. It provides you with 830 pages which are packed with information. In addition to the handy step by step instructions, you'll find a vast number and variety of tools, such as black and white photos, tables, illustrations, charts, and cut-away drawings. It includes wiring diagrams!
NOTE: This 1970 Cadillac shop manual covers the servicing of mechanical operations, but NOT the body. For body information, please see the 1970 Fisher Body Service Manual, which can be found by clicking here...1970 Fisher Body Service Manual.
