Please also take a moment to find and open the Table of Contents tab on this webpage. It will show you just how thoroughly these fiberglass dream machines are covered. Whether you're looking to do a tune-up or a tear-down, this 1980 Corvette shop manual should be the first tool you put in hand.

Did you know that the removable glass roof panels on the '80 'Vette are fabricated from a tinted laminated safety glass? Well, you would if you owned this book and checked out the BODY section 2D-27. It also tells you that each panel is attached at four points. A single latch located at the front outboard corner of the panel releases the bayonet type pin at the rear outboard corner. In addition to the description, this manual passes along important advice. It's the kind you don't want to find out the hard way. The glass roof panels are designed to fit approximately 1/8" higher than the rear roof panel, therefore, do not attempt to adjust the glass panels flush with the rear roof surface.

By 1980, the third generation of the Corvette, or "C3" as they are popularly known, had been in production for quite a while...since 1968, to be exact. Still, the GM designers knew they had a good thing, and continued to refine the looks and luxury of these great cars, even as they dealt with stricter emissions standards, fuel economy standards, safety features, unleaded gas, insurance premiums and other challenges. They kept the cars looking fresh and full of style.

Here's is an excerpt of how the 1980 Corvette was described in its sales brochure when new. "How many other cars can you name at a single glance? That should tell you something about the continuing uniqueness of Corvette. It could very well be the most recognizable car on the road today. It has a host of imitators. But none of them catch your eye with such striking authority. Because Corvette remains what they can only aspire to be. A legend. Still the only true American sports car.

"Since 1953, Corvette has claimed a special place in the hearts of those who love cars. It has captured that fine line between dreams and reality.

"Corvette for 1980. The legend lives on."

This factory-written shop manual is perfect for service, repairs, restoration and rebuild projects. Clear illustrations and photos show exploded views, as well as component details, plus specifications on engine data, engine torque, carburetion and more.
