MODELS 50-60 48. The cylindrical type cam followers (26 - Figs JD1037 or 1042) operate directly in the unbushed bores of follower guide (27). To remove the followers and guide assembly, first remove camshaft as outlined in paragraph 45 or 46. Remove the oil pump cover and idler gear. Grasp drive gear and pull drive gear and shaft down and out of pump body. Refer to Fig. JD1049. Withdraw follower guide and followers from above. Excessive wear between the cam followers and the guide is corrected by renewal of the component parts. MODEL 70 49. The mushroom type cam followers (26 - Fig. JD1046) operate directly in machined bores in the tractor main case. To remove the followers, remove camshaft as outlined in paragraph 47 and withdraw followers from the case bores. Excessive clearance between the followers and the case bores is corrected by renewal of the parts.
OVERHAUL
MODELS 50-60-70 101. Normal overhaul of the governor consists of removing and overhauling the shaft assembly only; and can be accomplished without removing governor housing from tractor. If, however, the fan drive bevel gear is damaged it will be necessary to remove the complete governor assembly as well as the fan shaft assembly in order to renew the matched set of bevel gears. Refer to paragraph 102 or 103 for renewal of bevel gears.
