FUEL LEVEL SENSOR: REMOVAL/INSTALLATION The fuel level sensor is part of the fuel gauge circuit. Refer to this circuit in Chapter Nine for fuel level sensor testing. See Figure 1 when servicing the fuel level sensor.
- Remove the tank and drain the fuel as described in this chapter.
- Remove the cover (A, Figure 7) from the fuel level sensor and release the drain hose from the clamp (B).
- Remove the mounting bolts (Figure 8) and pull the fuel level sensor (Figure 9) from the tank.
- Installation is the reverse of removal. Replace the gasket if necessary.
FUEL VALVE
The vacuum-operated fuel valve does not have an off position. When turned to the ON or RESERVE position, fuel should not flow through the valve until the engine is running. In PRI (prime), the fuel flows whether the engine is running or not.
LUBRICATION, MAINTENANCE AND TUNE-UP DISC BRAKE HOSES Check the brake hoses between each master cylinder and each brake caliper assembly. If there is any leakage, tighten the connections and bleed the brakes as described in Chapter Fourteen. If tightening the connection does not stop the leak or if the brake hose(s) is obviously damaged, cracked or chafed, replace the brake hose(s) and bleed the system as described in Chapter Fourteen.
