The 2003-2010 Nissan Murano Repair Manual by Chilton, covers U.S. and Canadian versions of the Murano sport crossover. Muranos are powered by a 3.5L V6 engine coupled to a continuously variable automatic transaxle (CVT). All-Wheel Drive (AWD) models are also propelled by way of a transfer case, driveshaft, rear differential and two rear driveaxles.
Book Excerpt: 2003-2010 Nissan Murano Repair Manual COOLING, HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS
RADIATOR (Refer to illustrations 6.6 and 6.7)
  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery (see Chapter 5). Drain the cooling system (see Chapter 1).
  2. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the lower engine splash shield, the air inlet duct and the radiator top covers.
  3. Remove the grille and the hood latch assembly (see Chapter 11).
  4. Remove the horn (see Chapter 12).
  5. Disconnect the coolant reservoir hose from the radiator cap.
  6. Disconnect the transaxle cooler hoses from the radiator (see illustration).
  7. Remove the upper radiator hose including the cap and adapter (see illustration).
  8. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator.
  9. Detach the upper radiator mounts by spreading the horseshoe clips to release the rubber bushings.
  10. Pull the top of the radiator back and upward to lift it out.
  11. With the radiator removed, it can be inspected for leaks and damage. If it needs repair, have a radiator shop or dealer service department perform the work, as special techniques are required.

DRIVELINE
DRIVEAXLES | REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION REMOVAL (Refer to illustrations 3.2, 3.9 and 3.10)
  1. Loosen the front wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel.
  2. Remove the cotter pin and remove the driveaxle/hub nut (see illustration).
  3. Remove the wheel speed sensor from the steering knuckle.
  4. Disconnect the brake hose from the suspension strut.
  5. Remove the brake caliper and the disc (see Chapter 9). Hang the caliper out of the way on a length of wire; don't let it hang by the hose.
  6. Remove the lower strut mounting bolts and disconnect the strut from the steering knuckle.
  7. Push the driveaxle out of the hub. If the driveaxle splines are frozen, free them by tapping the end of the driveaxle with a soft-faced hammer or a hammer and a brass punch, or use a puller to push the driveaxle from the hub.
  8. Remove the under-vehicle splash shield. Place a drain pan underneath the transaxle to catch the lubricant that may spill out when the driveaxles are removed.
  9. If you're removing the left driveaxle, carefully pry the inner CV joint out of the transaxle (see illustration).
  10. If you're working on the right driveaxle of a 2WD vehicle, remove the bearing housing mounting bolts, and then remove the driveaxle from the transaxle (see illustration). Do not try to separate the bearing from the inner CV joint until you have the entire assembly on the bench (see Section 4).
  11. On AWD models, remove the right driveaxle from the link shaft.
